This strat-type, solid-body electric has Seymour Duncan
staggered vintage pickups. The finish is two-color sunburst over an ash body
with a single-layer pickguard. The neck is one piece of maple. This Daytona
from the early 90s also features a Wilkinson new vintage vibrato and
locking Schahler tuning keys. More recently, Hamer has switched to alder as
a body wood with hardware that more closely resembles the current
Fender American Standard Stratocaster.
Hamer Guitars was founded in the 1970's by Paul Hamer and Jol
Dantzig. The new company won fame as recreators of the famous Gibson
solidbody electric models of the late 1950s (i.e. the Explorer,
Flying V, and Les Paul models).
In 1980, the company relocated from Palatine, Illinois to Arlington Heights,
on the northwestern outskirts of Chicago. In 1988, Hamer became a
division of the Kaman Music Corporation.
