Gibson SG Special #510675 |
This guitar is finished in a clear lacquer over cherry red stain on
a solid mahogany body. It has a glued-in, one-piece mahogany neck with
a bound rosewood fretboard. The electronics have been upgraded to the
same level as the SG Standard by a previous owner (sometime prior
to 1976). The original bridge and 3-bolt vibrato were also replaced with
a tune-o-matic bridge and a stop tailpiece. Made in 1965.
Every Gibson collector needs a copy of
Gibson Electrics: The Classic Years by Andre Duchossoir.
|
This is Andre's second book telling the story of the Gibson electric
guitars, and he doesn't miss a thing in this one, which tells the story of
Gibson guitars from the first experiments of Loyd Loar in the early 1920s
through the resignation of Ted McCarty, who served as Gibson's general manager
from 1948 to 1965.
