Peavey Classic 30 #08911668
with Classic 112E extension cabinet |
Here's a great combination for playing small blues clubs. It's a
Peavey
Classic 30 with a Classic 112E extension cabinet.

The Classic 30 is another small tube amp based loosely on the
Vox AC30. Like an AC30, the Classic 30 has a power
amp design that uses 4 EL84s, wired in a Class-A arrangement to produce
30 watts of output power. Also, like the later AC30s, the controls
on the Classic 30 include a treble boost switch.
Unlike the AC30, the Classic 30 has several features that
never appeared on any tube amp of the 1950s or 1960s. The Classic 30
is a two-channel amp with foot-switchable channel selection. Channel two
is a high-gain distortion channel with great tone that could not be coaxed
out of an AC30 under any circumstances.
The Classic 30 also features built-in reverb.
The controls on the Classic 30 include:
|
|
- Volume (for the low-gain channel),
- Gain controls (Pre and Post) for the high-gain channel,
- three-band EQ (treble, mid, bass) shared by both channels,
- reverb,
- a channel selector switch (must be set to select the high-gain channel
to enable channel selection via the foot switch), and
- a treble boost switch.
The Classic 30 has one 12 inch speaker in an open-back cabinet. The
Classic 112E is an enclosed cabinet with a single 12 inch speaker and
a removable back panel, for those who prefer an open-back sound.
