This is an acoustic classical guitar with a solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and a mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard. The bridge and peghead overlay are also made of rosewood. The sides and back have been stained to resemble rosewood. The (manufacturer's?) serial number on the neck block is 910154. Alvarez has recorded the serial number as 67560 on their label.

Alvarez is a trademark of the Saint Louis Music Company. Bernard Kornblum began importing musical instruments from Germany for sale in North America in 1924. In 1929, Bernard with two of his siblings, bought a small sheet music company called St. Louis Music. Through their efforts and those of their successors, Saint Louis Music became one of the world's largest musical merchandise distributors. Besides the Alvarez brand, St. Louis Music also owns Crate and other famous brands.
