This bass guitar has neck-thru-body construction with dual active
pickups, trem-set on the E tuning key, and a gray-burst finish from peghead
to end pin.
The history of the bass guitar is the subject of
"The Bass Book" by Tony Bacon and
Barry Moorhouse. This well-illustrated volume covers the evolution of
the bass guitar, from its invention in 1952 by Leo Fender through the
latest electronic updates of the 1980s and 1990s. The illustrations
include instruments owned by Paul McCartney, John Entwistle and other
stars. The text also contains excerpts from interviews with many of
the most notable innovators in the design and manufacture of the
instrument.

Hartley Peavey graduated from Mississippi State University and founded
Peavey Electronics in Meridian, Mississippi the following year. The initial
products of the new company were musical instrument
amplifiers, which found immediate acceptance
in the market and were especially well favored by bassists in all genres
and steel guitar players in the country music market.
